Ljus över Öland
A long June week on the limestone plain, where the light refuses to leave and the horizon keeps its distance from everything that tries to reach it.

Öland, Sweden
I arrived without a plan, which is the only way I know how to work on the island. The alvar stretches flat and pale for kilometres, and the wind carries a dry, mineral smell that gets into the camera bag and never quite leaves.
Most of these frames were made between eight and eleven in the evening, when the sun sits low enough to turn the grass amber and long enough for the shadows to become subjects of their own. Nothing here was arranged.
What I kept, in the end, were the quiet ones — a gate, a wall, the shape of weather arriving. The island has a way of making patience feel like the point rather than the price.
